SFC Raymond J. Becraft completed Infantry Basic and Advanced Individual Training in 1997 at Fort Benning Georgia. After completing his Infantry training he was assigned to 3/502nd Infantry Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. When assigned to Alpha Company SFC Becraft served in the following assignments; M249 Saw Gunner, Grenadier, Rifleman, M240 Bravo Gunner/Team Leader, and Rifle Squad Team Leader. In 2000 SFC Becraft was assigned to 2/35th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. SFC Becraft held the positions of Team and Squad Leader while stationed in Hawaii. SFC Becraft was then assigned to the 1/502nd Infantry Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky where he was deployed to Iraq. While serving in Iraq SFC Becraft conducted Combat Operations in and around the Iraqi city of Mosul. After returning back to the United States SFC Becraft separated from the Active Army and spent time with his wife Karen and young son Tyler while trying life as a civilian again.
SFC Becraft returned to military service with the National Guard as a Recruiting and Retention NCO. SFC Becraft served for two years as an R&R NCO stationed in Westminster, Maryland. During his Military career SFC Becraft has completed the Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), the Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course (BNCOC), the Jungle Warfare School (JOTB), Air Assault School, and the Rappel Masters Course. He has also earned the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. SFC Becraft’s awards include the Army Commendations Medal (x3), the Army Achievement Medal (x4), National Defense Service Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Medals, and the Overseas and Army Service Ribbons.
