First year Checklist
Attend the Opening Convocation.
Make a habit of going to class – and being prepared.
Take the Math, Language, and writing exams and explore what the College has to offer you through Student Leadership and Involvement.
Utilize the Educational Support.
Attend the departmental open houses for information about majors.
Read through the Course Descriptions of those programs that seem most interesting to you.
Take a career or personality inventory survey through Career Counseling.
Register for Spring semester as soon as you can, and do the same for next Fall.
Keep your grades up!
Take Intro to Public Speaking.
This is a great class! It’s especially helpful if you fear public speaking. Also, try to get speaking experience from clubs, leadership positions or jobs.
Prelaw students should attend an orientation session led by the Prelaw Advisor, Charles Neal.
Know the requirements for your scholarship or financial aid.
