McDaniel College invites applications for the position of Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies. The Dean supervises and directs 16 educational programs at the graduate level, provides leadership in developing new graduate programs, works with the Provost/Dean of the Faculty on matters related to graduate programs, and is a member of the Administrative Council, the Strategic Planning Committee, and the Deans and Directors Group. The Dean reports to the Provost/Dean of the Faculty
Graduate programs at McDaniel College include initial teacher education, counselor education, curriculum and instruction, deaf education, educational administration, elementary education, exercise science and physical education, gerontology, human resources development, human services management, the liberal arts, reading, school library media, secondary education, special education, and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL). More than 50 full- and 200 part-time faculty work with approximately 2,000 graduate students on-campus and at sites in eight Maryland counties.
Qualified candidates will have an earned doctorate; proven administrative skills in higher education; a strong record of scholarly and professional accomplishments; a collaborative and open management style; successful experience managing academic change and growth; the ability to work successfully with state agencies; and the ability to work effectively with graduate and undergraduate faculty and staff and graduate students.
