Admission Appeal Process

Admission Appeals Policy

  1. The prospective student seeking to appeal a denial of admission to one of the programs from Graduate and Professional Studies shall have 90 days from the receipt of the denial letter to petition for admission.  Appeal letters should be addressed to: Director of Graduate Admissions, Graduate and Professional Studies, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157.
    An appeal from a prospective student who does not meet the minimum admission criteria set by the respective program (e.g. undergraduate grade point average requirement) shall not be considered and will not be reviewed by Graduate and Professional Studies.
  2. Within 30 days of receipt of appeal, the Director of Graduate Marketing and Admissions shall convene a meeting of the Graduate Marketing and Admissions (GMA) Subcommittee of the Graduate Affairs Committee (GAC).  Meeting is led by the Chair of GMA.
    Meeting includes the relevant Graduate Coordinator or his/her designated representative(s).
    Based on appellant’s correspondence and relevant Graduate Coordinator’s input, the GMA Subcommittee adjudicates appeal.
  3. Administrator of Graduate Records processes acceptance or denial correspondence based on decision of the GMA in part 2. Chair of GMA signs correspondence.
  4. The prospective student seeking to appeal the GMA’s decision shall be prompted to send new appeal correspondence to Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies.
  5. Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies shall adjudicate student’s appeal of GMA decision.
  6. Based on results of part 5, Administrator of Graduate Records processes acceptance or denial correspondence under the signature of Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies.
