on the White House

Jocelyn Collins, who has a double major in Communication and Political Science and International Studies, served as an intern for Maryland State Sen. Katherine Klausmeier during the 2015 legislative session and little more than a month later, she began her internship in D.C. with Sen. Ben Cardin.

“I plan to become an elected official one day, hopefully working my way up through the Maryland House of Delegates to the Maryland Senate, then the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and finally as President of the United States,” she said. “At the end of the day, I just want to make the world a better place!”

Welcome
Class of 2019

From 24 states and 18 countries, first-year students find homes on the Hill

2019's are accomplished,
active, diverse & inspired

McDaniel’s newest students — the 434 members of the Class of 2019 — spent a busy first day taking their places on the Hill before saying good-bye to family and friends and opening the next chapter in their lives with a candle-lighting ceremony and ringing the Old Main bell.

Three out of 10 are National Honor Society members. Almost two-thirds have been involved in community service and more than a half worked while going to high school. One-third are actors and musicians, and 35 percent will participate in one of McDaniel’s 24 intercollegiate sports.

Jabraan Ismail ’14 is creating videos as a new media specialist

Cinematic approach
Keeps films interesting

No one would have predicted or even guessed that Jabraan Ismail’s Cinema degree would land him a first job at the national headquarters of the American Physical Therapy Association in Alexandria, Va.

The 2014 grad may be a long way from Sunset Boulevard, but he couldn’t be happier, describing his work as new media specialist to the organization’s 90,000 members as “awesome” and “exciting.”

“I love what I do whether it’s researching new gear or filming PT Day on Capitol Hill,” says Ismail of the job that has taken him, camera in tow, on assignments dotting the country from Seattle to Philadelphia. Read more »
