About the Program

In-demand Skills, Practical Pedagogy

Utilizing technology for education and training has become a staple in today’s classrooms and organizations. Finding skilled teachers and training professionals who have the knowledge and expertise to effectively leverage these technologies is the key to success. That’s where McDaniel’s Learning Technologies Specialist (LTS) Certificate Program comes in. Each course in the program has a theoretical and practical component. Your assignments will be projects, plans, and learning activities that can be used in your own educational settings.

How It Works

  • All classes are completed 100% online.
  • The 4 core courses and 1 elective are offered in 8-week sessions.
  • Classes may be taken in any order.
  • You can complete the program in one year without having to take more than one course at a time.

What You Need to Know About the Learning Technologies Specialist Certificate

Admissions Requirements

  • Completed application for graduate study.
  • Submit the non-refundable application fee.
  • Official transcripts verifying completion of an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university. No minimum GPA required.

Certificate Requirements

  • Successful completion of all five courses (15 credits)

Counts Toward Your Master’s

All courses in the LTS program can be applied toward the McDaniel M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, M.S. in Elementary Education, and M.S. in Secondary Education (assuming you earn a “B” or better in them).

High Standards, Highly Personalized

  • The four core courses embed the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards for administrators and coaches so that upon successful completion each candidate can demonstrate proficiency in the ISTE standards.
  • The electives provide each candidate a choice to further explore an additional area of study, such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), differentiated instruction, multimedia development, or strategies for teaching the digital generation.

Advancing Your Career

Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll be qualified for positions like:

  • Classroom Technology Coordinator
