McDaniel College Summer Housing Information for Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students requiring housing for the 2008 summer will be housed in double and single rooms in a traditional residence hall.  Undergraduate students may request housing for any of the following reasons: enrolled in a summer class, enrolled in a summer internship, participating in a science research project, campus employment, and/or international student not able to travel home.

If a student would like to live on campus during the summer, he/she should complete the Summer Housing Registration form on the Archway.  In addition, if a student is requesting housing for any reason other than enrolled in a credit bearing class, the advisor/employer should email reslife@mcdaniel.edu to verify to need for summer housing and also to indicate how the room and board costs will be paid if not by the individual student.

Room and Roommate Preferences: Students may indicate if they have a preference for living in a single or a double room.  They may also indicate if they have a preference for living with a specific individual.

Costs: A $200.00 non-refundable advance deposit must be submitted with each housing application (if the student is paying the cost for the room and board). This deposit is applied to the room charges and will be forfeited should a student decide to cancel her/his request for summer housing.  Assignments are made on a first come, first serve basis.

Room costs are as follows:
Residence Hall Double Room    $107.00 per week
Residence Hall Single Room     $125.00 per week

Meal Plan costs are as follows:
20 Meal Plan            $115.00 per week
14 Meal Plan            $  84.00 per week
5 Lunch Meal Plan           $  35.00 per week

Assignments will be made for undergraduate students beginning May 7th.  Roommate or housing preferences cannot be guaranteed. Students will receive housing confirmations and information about roommate(s) via email prior to the appropriate check-in date.

Questions about housing assignments should be directed to the Department of Residence Life at reslife@mcdaniel.edu or (410) 857-2240 (voice or TTY).

Questions about costs or billing should be directed to Harriett Corbran in the Bursar’s Office at hcorbran@mcdaniel.edu or (410) 857-2210.

Residence Life Staff:
A Resident Assistant (RA) will be available to assist residents with maintenance requests or other concerns.  Room damages are assessed comparing the condition of the student’s room at check-out with its condition at check-in. Each room resident completes a Room Condition Report at the beginning of the occupancy period.  Any pre-existing damages and/or missing items should be listed on this report.  RAs will complete these forms again at check-out.  Room damage charges are based on any discrepancies (beyond normal wear & tear) that are listed on the Room Condition Report at check-out that were not listed at check-in. It is the responsibility of all residents to exercise their influence in the community to prevent damage (room or common areas) or require responsible individuals to pay for damages.

Moving In and Out Information:
Check-in and out will be arranged in advance with the Office of Residence Life.
