Art & Art History
The Art and Art History Department is led by practicing art professionals. The faculty will help you attain a deeper understanding of the visual arts, in relation to a sound liberal arts education, and further develop your own creative abilities. Our facilities include naturally lit studios for painting and drawing classes, a state-of-the-art computer lab, as well as graphic design, jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture facilities. The department maintains McDaniel's Rice Gallery, which features rotating exhibitions of regional and national artists, working in a variety of media.

The program prepares students for a multitude of careers with majors in art history, studio art, graphic design, and art education. As an Art and Art History major, you may also take part in independent study projects, student-faculty collaborations, and internships.

World-renowned art museums and traveling exhibits are also at your fingertips in Westminster and it's surrounding areas. Nearby is Baltimore (40 minutes away) and Washington, D.C. (one hour away), with easy access to Philadelphia and New York City. Opportunities for further exploration exist during January Term art tours, such as recent tours of Italy and Turkey.
