The Office of Faculty Grants coordinates all faculty, staff, and student grant activity, working with the Principal Investigators to ensure that they receive the approval of the President's Council and submit the most competitive application possible. We ask that you notify us of your intent to pursue a grant as early as possible. Six months is ideal notice that you intend to develop and submit a grant. We may also ask that you work with the College's Institutional Review Board (IRB) or the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) if your research involves human subjects or animals. This timeline should help you plan when applying for a grant:
- Six months prior to grants submission: Contact the Faculty Grants Associate to either request help locating an appropriate grant or to provide us with a link to the Request for Proposal (RFP) that you have identified. Begin working with the Faculty Grants Associate to compose a complete and competitive grant portfolio, from the Executive Summary and Project Narrative through a detailed, line-item Budget. You might also need to begin securing Letters of Support from appropriate local, regional, or inter/national organizations and representatives.
- At least four weeks prior to the grant's deadline for submission, your entire grant application portfolio should have been reviewed and be ready to go. You then prepare a Grant Application Approval Form and e-mail it to the Faculty Grants Associate with a project abstract and summary budget. The form will be forwarded to the Provost for discussion and approval, and then we will help to route the form to collect the five remaining signatures for the members of the President's Council.
- After your application has been approved by the President's Council and submitted to the sponsoring agency, please send a complete copy of the application to the Faculty Grants Associate (email attachment or cd preferred).
- If you have questions, please contact: Gil Harootunian, Ph.D., Faculty Grants Associate, ext. 4699
