Families of students will return to the Hill Nov. 3-5 for a weekend of fun and presentations about life and learning at McDaniel. For many, it’s the first chance to experience the campus and college environment that by now is a second home to their student.

Highlights of the weekend include:

- "There Shall Be No Alps" – College Historian and Emeritus Mathematics Professor James Lightner '59 presents the history of McDaniel College and its namesake, William R. McDaniel, who believed there were no proverbial mountains too high to climb.

During academic year 2005-6, McDaniel overseas enrollments hit an all-time high of 55 semester students studying abroad and 102 on overseas January Terms.

- “Campus Update” Vice President of Administration and Finance Ethan Seidel highlights progress on the Campus Master Plan, including The Leroy Merritt Fitness Center, opening in 2007, the Gill Center food court and the plaza in front of Gill Center.

- Also planned are discussions of student-faculty research projects, course work, summer opportunities and senior Capstone experiences.

- Families may view the painting exhibit in Rice Gallery, play a round of golf, and enjoy a hypnotizing performance from Michael Anthony. Named 2004 Male Entertainer of the Year, Anthony is recognized as one of the most successful stage hypnotists in the world today.
