Peggy Ward, camp director, is more formally known as Margaret Motter Ward. She has taught violin, viola, and chamber music at McDaniel College and at Carroll and Frederick Community Colleges. She is co-founder of the Westminster Symphony Orchestra and is currently working on establishing a teaching center where area students can find professionally trained teachers.
Matt Boggs, assistant director, is a fine bass player with a degree in Music Education from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. Matt is in charge of coordinating all bass students who enroll in the Peabody Preparatory Department. He also teaches full time in the Howard County public schools and conducts the Encore Orchestra in Carroll County.
Dr. Thomas G. Elliot, conductor, is Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Music Department at Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. He was founder and conductor of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University and of its affiliated YOUTH & COLLEGIATE Symphony. Dr. Elliot was Dean of the College of Music at the University of Massachusetts before coming to Maryland.
Janette Sullivan, dance instructor, enjoyed a brilliant career as a professional ballerina after training with such prestigious companies as Martha Graham, Joffrey Ballet, and Paul Taylor. In 2001, Janette founded “State of the Arts” Dance Center in Westminster followed soon after by the “Westminster Ballet Theatre.” Janette has an enthusiastic style of teaching and a contagious passion for dance.
Joe Begley, composition, grew up in Carroll County and attended McDaniel College where he earned his degrees in composition and classical guitar. Joe makes his living teaching guitar but composes and arranges for his rock band Seventh Seal.
The Mariner String Quartet has presented a wide variety of programs tailored to listeners of all ages since it was founded in 1999. Violinists Nicholas Currie and Phanos Dymiotis, Violist Michael Strauss, and Cellist Adam Gonzalez also serve as principal string players in the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. The four gentlemen will work with campers as well as perform a live concert.

Lynne Griffith, French horn, are all members of the wind quintet known as Mistral Winds, in residence at McDaniel College. These three will join the Mariner Quartet in working with the campers as well as performing in concert Wednesday evening, July 18.
Lynn Fleming, double bass, graduated from the High School for the Performing Arts in New York City and then went on to graduate from the famous Juilliard School of Music. She enjoyed a successful career as a free-lance musician in New York City performing in various orchestral, ballet, and opera venues. Ms. Fleming performed with the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds in Italy, the Tanglewood Festival in the United States, and the First Annual Contemporary Music Festival in South America. She currently teaches at Hood College and Frederick Community College in Frederick, Maryland.
Beth Harkins, camp nurse, is the school nurse at Sykesville Middle School in Carroll County during the school year. She will be on duty at all times during the camp
week. Mrs. Harkins’ daughter, Brenda, studied viola with Mrs. Ward.
Christy Stromberg, yoga instructor, is a certified adult and children’s yoga teacher registered with the National Yoga Alliance. She is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a group exercise instructor and is a Maryland licensed and practicing Occupational Therapist. She received both her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Towson University.
