College Trustee
Carolyn Scott ’67, MLA ’76, and her husband
Robert ’66 were presented March 15 with the Carroll County Philanthropist Family of the Year Award by the Community Foundation of Carroll County.
Nearly 300 people were in attendance to recognize the generosity and commitment of local philanthropists at the second annual event.
“Everything we do is because we believe in the various causes and we enjoy it so much,” says Carolyn Scott. “To be thanked and honored means so much.”
She sits on the board of the American Red Cross and has served on the board of the Carroll County Arts Council and the Carroll County Board of Education. As a McDaniel trustee since 1996, she provides guidance and support for the College and its initiatives. Robert Scott, an orthodontist with five offices and three generations of patients, travels each year to Ecuador with the Ecuadent Foundation. On each weeklong trip, he and a team of dental professionals see more than 600 patients. They extract, restore and seal teeth, and perform corrective surgeries on cleft lip and cleft palate. The Scotts are active in many organizations, including the Westminster Rotary Club and Westminster Jaycees. They have been involved with the Carroll County Children’s Fund, which provides money for uninsured and underinsured children.
