The help desk serves faculty and staff of McDaniel College as well as student login and general campus networking issues.
Faculty and Staff
There are four ways to contact the help desk:
1. Call x3390 (from off campus, that’s 410-871-3390).
2. E-mail help@mcdaniel.edu.
3. Visit the Web Help Desk website at http://helpdesk.mcdaniel.edu/. After logging in with your e-mail username and password, you may submit a help desk ticket online or look up your help desk tickets to check on their status.
4. Submit a help desk ticket through e-mail by sending a request to helpdesk@mcdaniel.edu.
What’s the difference between the two e-mail addresses?
The account at help@mcdaniel.edu is read by a person, who will then respond in whatever way is appropriate. That may mean a help desk ticket will be opened, but it may not, if the request can be fulfilled in a simpler way.
The account at helpdesk@mcdaniel.edu is checked by our Web Help Desk ticketing system. When the software sees your email, it will automatically create a new help desk ticket and then notify a technician that a ticket has been created. If you just have a simple question or if you are following up on an existing ticket, please use the other e-mail address.
Students
Student support at the help desk includes addressing username and password issues for logging in to e-mail, the Archway or Blackboard, and problems with networking in the residence halls and on the campus wireless network. For help with those problems, please send your full name, McDaniel ID number and a description of the problem to help@mcdaniel.edu or call 410-871-3390.
