Description:
Friendly Dublin and cosmopolitan London make and ideal pair. We begin our UK adventure in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. We will walk in the footsteps of Shawn O’Casey, James Joyce and William Butler Yates as we explore the gateway to the emerald isle. We will pay tribute to Shakespeare in Stratford, visit the University town of Oxford and finish up in the largest capital city in Europe, London. All through out our trip we will visit Theatres and attend plays.
Tentative Itinerary:
1/ 9 Depart Dulles 7:15pm Aer Lingus 118 @ 7:15pm
1/ 10 Arrive Dublin 7:00am Take a walking tour of Dublin inc. Temple Bar (Optional play tonight)
1/ 11 Take a guided City tour (incl. St Patrick’s Cathedral & Book of Kells at Trinity College)
1/ 12 Free Day. Evening Panto 'Beauty and the Beast' at the Gaity Theatre
1/ 13 Excursion to Hill of Tara and Newgrange
1/ 14 Depart Dublin 9:20am Aer Lingus 264
arrive Birmingham 10:15am Journey to Stratford. Afternoon tour of Shakespeare Houses,
1/ 15 Actor’s Tour of Stratford, Shakespeare’s home town
Evening performance of Noughts and Crosses by the Royal Shakespeare Company
1/ 16 To London with stop in Oxford for lunch and some free time.
1/ 17 Full day sightseeing in London. Backstage tour of Drury Lane Theatre Evening performance TBA
1/ 18 Free day. Evening performance TBA
1/ 19 Visit London’s Art Museums. The National Gallery and The New Tate
1/ 20 Depart Heathrow 11:00am Aer Lingus 157 Arrive Dublin 12:15pm Depart 2:00pm Aer Lingus 119 arrive Dulles 4:55pm
Cost $2,500.
$500 deposit due at registration
$1000 due no later than October 31
$1000 due no later than November 30
Payments to be made at Bursar’s Office
Course Requirements:
Students will be required to meet three requirements:
1. Attend pre-trip meetings in preparation for travel
2. Keep a journal during the trip
3. Participate in a group project that will draw from experiences shared on the journey. The project will be performed after we return to McDaniel.
NB Students must have or (immediately!) obtain a PASSPORT.
