Members of McDaniel’s volleyball, soccer and field hockey teams earn coveted spots on the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team.
Taylor Herrgott ’10 and Katie Seibel ’08, members of the McDaniel College volleyball team, were named Nov. 2 to the 2007 All-CC team. Hergott was named to the second team while Seibel was tabbed as an honorable mention. Herrgott, a middle hitter, led the team with 278 kills and ranks first in the conference with 1.11 blocks per game, totaling 39 block solos and 60 block assists. She also had 21 aces. Seibel, an outside hitter, ranked second on the team with 236 kills. She also has 77 digs and 16 total blocks. McDaniel finished the season with a record of 16-9 (8-2 CC) and was runner-up at the CC championship.
Brittany Baer ’09, Rachel McCallum ’11 and Sarah Wallace ’08, members of the women’s soccer team, were named Nov. 2 to the 2007 All-CC team. Baer, a forward, led the team with 10 goals and 23 points, starting all 18 games in her first year with the squad. Baer also tied for the team lead with three assists. McCallum, a defender, added one goal to the offense while keying a defense that allowed 2.25 goals per game. Wallace, a midfielder who earned second-team honors as a junior, tallied three goals and three assists as a senior. Her nine points ranked second on the team behind Baer. McDaniel finished the season with a record of 3-15 (2-8 CC).
Brooke Dixon ’09, a member of the McDaniel College field hockey team, was named Oct. 30 to the 2007 All-CC team. The midfielder earned her second straight nod to the second team. She ranked third on the team in goals (4) and points (11). Her three assists were second-best on the Green Terror squad. She added two defensive saves. McDaniel finished the season with a record of 6-12 (4-6 CC).
Green Terror wrestlers finished third Nov. 3 in the Messiah Invitational, the season opener. The team returns to action at 7 p.m. Nov 7 at York College.
In CC football action Nov. 3, Gettysburg beat McDaniel 38-14. The Green Terror concludes the season at 1 p.m. Nov 10 at home against Johns Hopkins.
In the CC cross-country championships Oct. 27, the men’s team finished eighth out of nine and the women’s team finished tenth out of ten. McDaniel returns to action Nov. 10 at the NCAA Mideast Regionals at Lehigh. The women's race begins at 11 a.m. with the men's race to follow at noon
Swarthmore’s swimmers won 15 of 21 events Nov. 3, sweeping McDaniel’s men’s (30-56) and women’s (33-58) swim teams in the CC opener. McDaniel is next in action at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at home against Gettysburg. McDaniel’s volleyball team lost Nov. 4 to Haverford 3-0 in the CC volleyball championship match.
