Working Together for a Safe Campus

I want to welcome you to McDaniel College. Founded in 1867 as Western Maryland College, this is a special institution in a great town. McDaniel College and Westminster provide an outstanding setting in which to obtain a superb education.

At the Department of Campus Safety (DoCS), we work hard to ensure that the campus is a safe place. Our Mission Statement reflects our values, while our motto—"Working Together for a Safe Campus"—stems from our belief that the safety of a community requires involvement by all members. You will see throughout this site that both the College and the City of Westminster are relatively free of crime. Although this is a good thing, it does create the impression that students can relax their defenses. However, crime is by nature opportunistic, and awareness is the best defense.

This site contains some hints on prevention and some policies that you should be familiar with. DoCS at McDaniel College maintains membership in many organizations that also provide useful information. Let us help you navigate a successful and safe experience at McDaniel College.
