Sociology
Graduates of McDaniels sociology program have gone on to careers in counseling, social work, law, teaching, the ministry, juvenile justice and law enforcement. There are three areas of concentration within the program: criminal justice, human relations in supervision and management, and industrial and government organization. Each of the concentrations provides a solid foundation in sociology theory and research methods, complemented by interdisciplinary study in such fields as business, economics, communication, and biology. Courses offered range from Cultural Anthropology and Urban Sociology to Criminology and Population. Sociology students have served internships in the states attorneys office, local and state police departments, the courts, the U.S. Marshalls office, and the Department of Juvenile Services.
Other educational options: concentrations in criminal justice, human relations supervision and management, industrial and governmental organizations, and sociology (graduate study); elementary and secondary school teaching certification (history of political science emphasis).
