Dickinson turns tables on McDaniel to earn season split

CARLISLE, Pa. – Jordan Kaufman went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead Dickinson to a 17-8 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action on Friday.
The Red Devils (5-11, 1-1 CC) rapped out 18 hits and took advantage of 10 errors by the Green Terror (8-5, 1-1 CC) to plate 10 unearned runs and earn a season split after McDaniel rapped out 18 hits in a 13-8 win on Tuesday in Westminster.
Russell Coover (Schuylkill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) went 2-for-4 with four RBIs to pace the Green Terror, who finished with 12 hits in the contest.
Trailing 8-6 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Dickinson used a six-hit, two-error frame to score six times and grab a 12-8 lead.
Mike Schuster and Matt Catania led off with back-to-back singles before Tyler Rosa was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
With two outs, including a sacrifice fly from Evan Farha to scored Schuster, Peter Balali’s RBI single knotted the game. A Ben Sciambi knock plated more two runs to give Dickinson the lead for good.
After an error allowed Balali to score, Kaufman knocked in Sciambi and a second error coupled with a second Schuster hit in the frame capped the rally.
After plating a single run in the seventh, the Red Devils took advantage of four eighth-inning miscues to tack on four runs.
After Matthew Pace (Baltimore, Md./North County) scored on a Zach Croft (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) sacrifice fly in the top of the second to stake McDaniel to a 1-0 lead, two errors and four hits, including a two-RBI single from Kaufman, keyed a four-run bottom of the inning.
Single runs in each of the next two innings stretched the lead to 6-1 before the Green Terror plated seven runs in the fifth and sixth.
The four-run fifth inning was keyed by a Croft leadoff triple and two-RBI single from Coover.
Back-to-back doubles from Harold Baines, Jr. (St. Michaels, Md./St. Michaels) and Coover in the sixth assisted in the three-run sixth that gave the visitors a two-run advantage.
Justin Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax), Troy Tipton (Hanover, Pa./South Western) and Andrew Worm (Easton, Md./Easton) added two hits apiece for McDaniel.
The Green Terror returns to action in a doubleheader at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. The first game begins at 12:30 p.m.
