McDaniel men finish second at Metro meet, women place fouth
BALTIMORE, Md. – Sean Allen (Westminster, Md./Walkersville) crossed in 11th place overall to lead the McDaniel men’s cross country team to a second place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet at Oregon Ridge on Saturday.
With the exception of Anthony Littlejohn from Coppin State finishing second, Allen was the first non-Johns Hopkins runner to cross the line. The Blue Jays won the meet with 19 points to the Green Terror’s 56.
Allen finished the 5,000-meter course in 16:40. Chris Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) and Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) followed him across the line in 16:46 and 16:57.23, respectively.
Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Kevin Bowman (Westminster, Md./Brunswick) also finished in the top 20 in 18th (17:07) and 20th (17:11) places, respectively.
On the women’s side, the Green Terror placed fourth with 122 points but was behind just Johns Hopkins (second place, 31 points) among the Division III competitors. Towson won the meet with 27 points while Morgan State was third with 113.
Freshman Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) led McDaniel in her first collegiate race with a 26th-place showing, finishing the 5K course in 21:13.
Jessica Dittman (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) was 31st overall with a time of 21:33.
Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was 35th overall with a time of 21:41 while Christie Walker (Frederick, Md./Urbana) and Erika Clark (Suitland, Md./Central) crossed 37th (21:47.74) and 38th (21:48), respectively.
McDaniel returns to action at the Shenandoah Invitational on Friday. The women’s race begins at 5:45 p.m. with the men’s race to follow at 6:30 p.m.
