McDaniel wins Hood Invitational in final tune-up before CC meet
FREDERICK, Md. – Sean Allen (Westminster, Md./Walkersville) and C.J.Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) finished six-seven overall to lead the McDaniel men’s cross country team to its third invitational win of the season at the Hood Invitational on Saturday.
Allen completed the 8K course in a time of 28:08 while Naper was three seconds behind his teammate. The Green Terror finished with 49 points and won the invitational, equaling Hagerstown Community College, but took the win on the better finish for the sixth runner.
The McDaniel women, behind a seventh-place finish from Jessica Dittman (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), won for the second time in 2007, taking the 6,000-meter event with 50 points.
On the men’s side, Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added a top-10 finish, crossing 10th with a time of 28:23.
Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) placed 19th (29:11) while Tim Eggars (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and Tim Snyder (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) were 21st (29:13) and 24th (29:26), respectively.
For the women, Erika Clark (Suitland, Md./Central) crossed the line 12th (25:57) and Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) finished 14th (26:09).
Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Christie Walker (Frederick, Md./Urbana) added top-25 finishes, crossing 23rd (26:53) and 25th (27:16), respectively.
Current McDaniel assistant coach Diana Pool won the women’s event with a course-record time of 23:03.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. The women’s race begins at 11 a.m. The men’s race follows at 12 p.m.
