Big second half propels No. 15 Elizabethtown to 2-0 win over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Andrea Miles had a pair of assists to lead 15 th-ranked Elizabethtown to a 2-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.
Erika Wawzyanick (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) made three saves for the Green Terror (4-4), who were outshot, 9-2.
After a first half with just two shots and a single penalty corner, the Blue Jays (7-1) tallied twice in the first 10:42 of the second half for the win.
Off a corner a minute into the stanza, Miles sent a pass from the top of the arc, where Megan Angstadt collected the ball and slipped it into the left side of the cage for a 1-0 lead.
In the 46th minute, Miles tapped a short pass to Brenna Noon on the far post to double the advantage.
In addition to the 9-2 advantage in shots, Elizabethtown held a 10-1 edge in penalty corners.
Liz Hannegan stopped one of the two shots she faced.
The Green Terror returns to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
