Four named to All-Centennial Conference football team; Wenrich earns first-team nod
LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of the McDaniel College football team have been named to the 2007 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team on Monday.
Senior Tom Wenrich (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) was named to the first team while sophomores Matt Bergbauer (Westminster, Md./Westminster), Bryan Letourneau (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and Travis Wenrich (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) were tabbed as honorable mentions.
 Tom Wenrich, the team’s punter, moved up to the first team after being named to the second team last season, averaging a CC-best 38.7 yards per punt this season. He booted 57 kicks for 2,204 yards, including racking up no fewer than 200 punting yards in seven of the 10 games this season. He had two punts of at least 60 yards, including a career-long 64 yarder against Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 27. He had five touchbacks while dropping eight punts inside the 20.
Bergbauer, a tight end, led the team with 36 receptions for 307 yards. He averaged 8.5 yards per catch and 30.7 yards per game and caught a touchdown pass against the Diplomats.
 Letourneau, a defensive lineman, led the team with 83 tackles this season to rank seventh in the CC. His 7.0 sacks ranked second in the conference while his 16.0 tackles for loss was third. He tied for the conference lead with three fumble recoveries.
Travis Wenrich, a defensive back, finished the season with 51 tackles and led the squad with five interceptions – a number that also tied for the CC’s best. He also had a team-high eight pass breakups. He finished second in the conference with 13 passes defended. Wenrich was also called into the duty in the return game for the final four games of the season, finishing with a CC-best 14.1-yard average on punt returns with one touchdown. He also averaged 16.1 yards on nine kickoff returns.
The Green Terror finished the season 1-9 overall (1-7 CC).
