McCallum leads McDaniel women to seventh-place showing at CC Championships; Green Terror men place eighth
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) was a part of all 30 points, leading McDaniel to a seventh-place finish at the 2008 Centennial Conference (CC) Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Ursinus on Saturday and Sunday. Haverford won the team title on both sides, outdistancing Johns Hopkins on the women’s side and Gettysburg on the men’s side. The Ford women tallied 166 to win by 57.5 points while the men came home with 144.5 points to win by 32.5.
The Green Terror men finished eighth with 18 points.
McCallum brought home gold medals in the 55 and 200 while adding a bronze medal in the long jump. She won the 55 with a time of 7.51 seconds before taking the 200 in a time of 26.50. She also took third in the long jump with a leap of 5.02 meters. The freshman was also part of the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays, which both finished seventh.
Jarrett Smith (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) led the men with a silver in the high jump, clearing 1.86 meters. He was also seventh in the triple jump (12.37m) and ninth in the long jump (6.01m).
McDaniel opens the outdoor season at the Goucher Invitational on Mar. 29.
