Partial McDaniel squad competes at Father Diamond Invitational
FAIRFAX, Va. – Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) hit the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark in the 60 meters to lead McDaniel at the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason in men’s and women’s indoor track and field action on Saturday. With just four women and six men competing in the primarily Division I meet, the Green Terror women finished 10th of 12 competing teams with 4.5 points while the men were tied for ninth of 13 teams with 10 points.
McCallum hit the provisional standard square on the mark with a time of 7.84 seconds in the preliminaries before bettering that time by 0.03 seconds in the finals to finish tied for eighth in the event.
She also placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.29.
Jason Maier (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) led the McDaniel men with a fifth-place showing in the shot put, tossing a throw of 13.78 meters.
The 4x800-meter relay team added a fourth-place finish with a time of 8:33.65 while Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) rounded out the point-getters, crossing eighth in the 1,000 with a time of 2:44.70.
McDaniel returns to action at the Gulden Relays hosted by Bucknell on Friday.
