McDaniel men finish fifth, women eighth at DuCharme Invitational

 
 
CARLISLE, Pa. – Jason Maier (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) threw a distance of 13.95 meters to win the shot put and lead the McDaniel men’s indoor track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the DuCharme Invitational at Dickinson on Saturday.
            The Green Terror tallied 53 points. Gettysburg won the team title with 132 points. The Bullets completed the sweep with a win on the women’s side as well, totaling 146 points to edge Messiah by 0.5 points. McDaniel was eighth with 13.5 points.
            After four straight top three finishes in the event, Maier led three top-three finishes in the field events with his first win since the squad’s visit to Dickinson in December.
            Jarrett Smith (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) added three top-five showings, placing second in the high jump (4-4), third in the long jump (6.14 meters) and fifth in the triple jump (11.95 meters).
            Scott Pusateri (Accident, Md./Northern Garrett), Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) and Tim Snyder (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) finished 4-5-6 in the mile. Pusateri finished with a time of 4:40.20 while Crutchley was 0.37 seconds behind him. Snyder crossed with a time of 4:41.72.
            On the women’s side, Jen Thompson (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) led the way, clearing 4-4 in the high jump. She was also ninth in the 55 hurdles (10.21 seconds) and 12th in the long jump (4.43 meters).
            Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) added a ninth-place showing in the mile, crossing in a time of 5:55.65.
            McDaniel returns to action at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Ursinus on Saturday and Sunday. Action begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
