Curley enters his second season at the helm of the Green Terror after a successful debut campaign.

After spending nine seasons as an assistant coach at Colgate, including serving as the top assistant since 2002, where he helped head coach Emmett Davis become the third winningest coach in Colgate history, Curley guided McDaniel to a 15-11 record and its first Centennial Conference playoff berth since 1995. The Green Terror shot out of the gate, winning Curley’s first six games as mentor – the best start for the program since 1962-63. It was the first winning season in 23 seasons and the first 15-win campaign since 1982-83.

Prior to his arrival in Upstate New York, he served four seasons as the assistant coach at Bethany (W.Va.). He started his coaching career in the State College Area School District while completing his bachelor degree at Penn State University.

While in his latest capacity, he coordinated the national recruiting effort as well as developing and maintaining contact with high school and AAU coaches. Directly responsible for guard development, he also organized the Raiders’ conditioning and weight training program, as well as coordinating individual student-athlete workouts. He also oversaw the staff’s compliance with NCAA rules.

Prior to his promotion to the No. 1 assistant role, he assisted in other aspects of the Colgate program, including but not limited to recruiting, and game-day and practice planning and execution. For a time, he also managed the scouting of opponents and coordinated film-exchange agreements. In addition, he coordinated travel and meal arrangements.

From 1998-2000, he served as the Raiders’ junior varsity coach in which he amassed a record of 13-5 while taking on all aspects of that program. He also served as camp director for the program’s summer basketball camps during that same period.

During his time as a recruiter at Colgate, Curley helped bring in four All-Patriot League performers, five players named to the all-rookie team and three 1,000-point scorers.

While at Bethany, he served as Rob Clune’s assistant from 1994-98. On the Bison staff, Curley was part of the early stages of a turnaround in the program. He was primarily responsible for coordinating travel as well as scouting opponents, including film exchange and breakdown.

The last class that Curley helped recruit at Bethany went on to win the Presidents Athletic Conference twice and make the program’s first trip to the NCAA tournament in more than 20 years. Two of the players on that team were named all-conference. Both were 1,000-point scorers, including one who was a two-time conference MVP and the Bison’s all-time leading scorer with more than 2,000 points.

He developed and implemented a strength and conditioning program along with counseling and advising student-athletes in academic matters. He also served as Bethany’s junior varsity coach and camp director during his tenure.

A guard in college, Curley played two seasons at Penn State-Altoona, where he was captain his second season before heading to State College.

A 1994 industrial and labor relations graduate from Penn State, he served as the junior high boys’ basketball coach and varsity assistant at the State College Area School District.

After his undergraduate work, he went to West Virginia University, where he earned a master’s degree in physical education with a concentration in athletic coaching in December 1996.

A State College, Pa., native, Curley comes from a family with a rich background in athletics.

His younger brother, Greg, played basketball at Allegheny College and is currently the head coach at Juniata. He has served the last six seasons in that post and has guided the Eagles to some of the program’s most successful seasons in recent history, including the first back-to-back winning seasons since the last 1980s.

Curley’s uncle, Tim, is the Director of Athletics at Penn State – a position he has held since 1993. While in the top leadership position, the Nittany Lions have enjoyed unprecedented success that was highlighted by five Big Ten championships during the Fall 2005 semester. Recording championships in field hockey, football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball, PSU became the first institution to win more than three titles in the fall season in the 110-year history of the Big Ten Conference. Nittany Lions teams compiled an incredible 49-1 record against Big Ten competition that fall.

Kevin is married with one-year-old twins. His wife, Allison, gave birth to the couple’s first children, Caroline and Nathaniel, in March 2007 – just prior to the couple’s arrival in Westminster.

Chris Prior
Assistant Coach

Year at McDaniel: 1st

Office Phone: 410-857-2718

Prior begins his first season on the bench after a successful playing career with the Green Terror.

A Westminster native, Prior earned second-team All-Centennial Conference honors as a senior after leading McDaniel in rebounding (9.8 rpg) and ranking second in scoring (11.0 ppg).

Prior keyed the program’s first conference playoff appearance in 13 years after leading the Green Terror to its most wins in a single season since the 1982-83 squad recorded 16. McDaniel, which finished 15-11 a year ago, recorded its first winning season since 1984-85 due in large part to Prior’s inside play.

The forward finished his Green Terror career with 455 points – 286 of which came during his breakout senior campaign – and 428 rebounds, including 255 in 2007-08.

Prior, who served as a captain during his senior season, graduated in May with a degree in sociology.

Joe Yeck
Assistant Coach

Year at McDaniel: 1st

Office Phone: 410-857-2718

Yeck joins the Green Terror coaching staff in 2008-09 after a successful playing career at York (Pa.).

He played in 91 games while a member of the Spartan basketball team, including starting all 22 games as a senior. A career .480 shooter, he totaled 400 points, including 189 while serving as a captain during his final season. He also pulled down 147 rebounds and dished out 196 assists.

He was part of York’s, 2004-05 national semifinalist team that went 28-4 where he played in all 32 of the team’s games.

Earning the Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic Award, he also participated in the team’s community service activities that included providing gifts to less-fortunate families during the holiday season.

He was also a two-time captain of the golf team. As a golfer, he fired a career-low round of 71 to tie for second place at the Susquehanna Fall Invitational as a senior.

Prior to his arrival at McDaniel, he spent last year as the assistant director of campus recreation at Gettysburg College. While there, he oversaw intramurals and club sports and monitored leagues and special events.

In the summer before his time at Gettysburg, he served as a ticket office and marketing intern at Lehigh, assisting with marketing of the athletic teams and events.

A 2007 graduate of York, he earned his bachelor of science in sport management.
