Second half charge carries McDaniel to 66-52 victory at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Ryan Finch (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon) recorded 11 of his game-high 15 points in the second half of McDaniel’s 66-52 victory at Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s basketball action on Saturday.
Chaz Thomas led the Fords (4-10, 2-6 CC) with 14 points while Mike Fratangelo added 13.
Chris Prior (Westminster, Md./Westminster) added a double-double for the Green Terror (10-5, 5-3 CC) with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Trailing 31-30 nearly six minutes into the second half, McDaniel went on a 15-6 run over the next five and a half minutes to open up a 45-37 advantage with 8:46 to play.
Finch hit two of his three 3-pointers during the stretch for the Green Terror, who connected on 5 of 11 second-half attempts from behind the arc.
After Haverford trimmed the deficit to 47-42 with 7:53 to play, McDaniel responded with the next five points to take its first double-digit lead of the game with 6:30 showing.
Fratangelo drilled two treys in the game’s first 7:30 to help the Fords open up a 12-6 advantage.
The Green Terror countered with the next seven points to take a 13-12 lead nearly a minute and a half later.
Haverford scored five of the half’s final eight points to take a 24-22 lead into halftime.
Kevin Henry (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) added 14 points for McDaniel while Miguel Jones (Baltimore, Md./North County) dished out five assists.
The Green Terror returns to action at Johns Hopkins on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
