Scott Moyer, Director of Golf and men’s coach at McDaniel College, has led the Green Terror to six NCAA National Championship appearances with the most recent appearance in 2008 and has won several conference championships, including the 2005, 2006 and 2008 titles.
An active member of the Golf Coaches Association of America, he also serves as the Director of the National Golf Coaches Academy and directs the Nike Junior Golf Camp in Williamstown and Winchendon, Mass., and Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A heavily sought instructor, Moyer has worked with some of this country’s top amateur players, as well as those from South Africa, France, Canada, and South Korea. His collegiate players and/or students have won numerous conference and collegiate tournaments. They have also gone on to compete at every level of golf competition, including the PGA Tour, U.S. Open and British Amateur amongst others.
In 2005, both the men’s and women’s teams won the Centennial Conference team championship as well as both individual titles, making it the first institution in NCAA history to accomplish this feat.
In addition, McDaniel is believed to be the first team to have four different players win the individual conference championship in four consecutive years (2005-08).
Prior to his arrival to then-Western Maryland in 1985, Moyer served as golf coach at Mt. St. Joseph, a collegiate prep school in Baltimore. He guided the team to nine conference and two National Prep Championships.
