McDaniel places eighth at Ted Keller Invitational

 
ASHLAND, Va. – Gerry Butler (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) shot a two-day score of 158 to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the Ted Keller Invitational hosted by Randolph-Macon in men’s golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
            As a team, the Green Terror combined to shoot a 634, including a 310 in Sunday’s second round. Keyed by a 292 on Sunday that included a pair of 72s, Hampden-Sydney won the event with a combined score of 597.
            Butler, who shot a 78 on Saturday and an 80 on Sunday, finished in a tie for 31st place.
            Taylor Massie (Southington, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) tied for 36th place overall with a two-day 159.
            Zach LaVoie (Princeton, N.J./Pinedale), who carded a second-round 75, and Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman), who shot a 77 on Sunday, each posted combined scores of 160 to finish 38th.
            Alex Campbell (Howell, N.J./Wall) rounded out the McDaniel competitors with a two-day total of 162.
            The Green Terror returns to action at the U.S. Naval Academy Tournament on Saturday.
