McDaniel finishes ninth among D-1s at Rehoboth Beach Invitational
ROHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) shot a 149 for 36 holes to lead McDaniel to a ninth-place finish at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational in men’s golf action on Monday.
Starting three freshmen for the first time in recent history, the Green Terror combined to shoot a 623 for two rounds in a field comprised mostly of Division I programs. McDaniel fired a 321 in the morning round before coming back to card a combined 302 in the afternoon 18.
Kovalcheck, one of the freshmen, finished in a tie for 13th place overall, firing a 76 for the first round and a 73 in round two.
Zach LaVoie (Princeton, N.J./Pinedale) finished in a tie for 25th place with a 152, carding a 79 in the morning and a 73 in round two.
Keith Mazurek, Jr. (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) andGerry Butler (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) placed 43rd (160) and 44th (162), respectively. Mazurek shot matching rounds of 80 while Butler rebounded from an 86 to fire a 76.
Chris Merrill (Kingsvill, Md./Fallston) rounded out the Green Terror competitors with a 174, finishing tied for 49th overall.
McDaniel returns to action at Susquehanna on Friday.
