LaVoie fires 73 to help McDaniel win Gettysburg Invitational

 
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Zach LaVoie (Princeton, N.J./Pinedale) fired a tournament low-tying round of 73, leading McDaniel to a first-place finish at the Gettysburg Invitational in men’s golf action on Tuesday.
            Gettysburg’s Ned MacPherson matched LaVoie’s 73 but was awarded medalist honors on the first handicap tiebreaker.
            Playing its third round in three days, the Green Terror combined to fire its lowest round of the stretch with a 305 win the 12-team field, outshooting the second-place host Bullets by nine strokes.
            Taylor Massie (Southington, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) finished in a tie for fifth place, carding a 76.
            Gerry Butler (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) and Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) were part of a nine-way tie for 10th place with rounds of 78.
            Keith Mazurek, Jr. (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) tied for 44th overall with a score of 86.
            McDaniel returns to action at its own invitational hosted at Piney Branch on Sunday and Monday. The first round on Sunday tees off at 12 p.m.
