McDaniel competes in Marine Corps Series at Navy, finishes second
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) carded a one-over 72 to finish in a three-way tie for third place and lead McDaniel to a second-place showing in the Marine Corps Series in men’s golf action on Saturday.
The Green Terror’s top five carded a combined 300 to finish six strokes behind Navy. McDaniel’s B-team shot a 323, finishing fifth.
For the top group, Zach LaVoie (Princeton, N.J./Pinedale) finished with a score of 73 while Gerry Butler (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) finished ninth with a 77.
Chris Merrill (Kingsville, Md./Fallston) and Lewis Schnauble (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished 13th (78) and 27th (86), respectively.
Taylor Massie (Southington, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) led the B-team with a round of 77, finishing ninth overall.
Keith Mazurek, Jr. (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) posted a 78 to finish 13th while Alex Campbell (Howell, N.J./Wall) and Matthew Dennis (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) rounded out the competitors in 18th (81) and 28th (87) places, respectively.
McDaniel returns to action at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational on Monday, playing 36 holes in one day.
