McDaniel finishes 11th at Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational

 
 
 
HERSHEY, Pa. – Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) shot a two-round total of 153 to finish in a three-way tie for 10th place and lead McDaniel to an 11th-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Invitational in men’s golf action on Sunday and Monday at Hershey Country Club.
            The Green Terror combined to post a round of 315 in the first round on Sunday on the par-73 East Course before battling rough course conditions on the par-71, 7,061-yard West Course to card a 329 on Monday and finish with a combined 644.
            St. John Fisher won the team title with a two-day total of 607, following its round of 302 on Sunday with a 305 on Monday. Wesley (608), Allegheny (613), Washington & Jefferson (613) and Carnegie Mellon (631) rounded out the top five. The Cardinals’ Scott Harris, Jr. won the individual crown with a one-over par 145, posting a 73 on Sunday and 72 on Monday.
            Kovalcheck shot even-par 73 on Sunday before carding an 80 on Monday to lead McDaniel.
            Gerry Butler (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) finished in a tie for 30th place overall, carding a 160. The only other Green Terror player to shot a round in the 70s, Butler shot a first-round 76 before posting an 84 in round two.
            Matthew Dennis (Bay Shore, N.Y./Islip) carded matching rounds of 82 to finish 44th overall with a score of 164.
            Zach LaVoie (Princeton, N.J./Pinedale) and Steve Meier (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum School) rounded out the McDaniel golfers with two-day scores of 167 and 168, respectively. Both shot rounds of 84 on Sunday while LaVoie bettered Meier by a stoke on Monday, posting an 83.
            McDaniel returns to action at the Susquehanna Invitational on Apr. 17.
