NCAA Championship under way at Chateau Elan
McDaniel updates available throughout tournament
BRASELTON, Ga. – McDaniel has completed the first round of the 2008 Division III Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday at Chateau Elan Resort. The Green Terror sits 33rd of the 35 competing teams after shooting a 338 on the Woodlands Course.

The 2008 NCAA Division III men's golf championship is under way from the Chateau Elan Resort. McDaniel, teamed with Gustavus Adolphus and Washington and Lee for the first two rounds, is on the course for round one from the 6,738-yard, par 71 Woodlands Course. For live scoring updates, all golfers are required to report scores every three holes for posting. Once a player completes holes 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15, his scores will be reported to the official scoring area for posting. No scores are deemed official until the player and his marker have signed the card following the 18th hole, attesting that every score on the card is accurate.
McDaniel updates:
5:30 p.m.: All scores are finalized and posted on Golfstat's live scoring website. The Green Terror finished the first round with a 388 and sit 33rd of 35, 15 strokes behind the cut line of 23rd place. La Verne shot a 291 in the opening round on the Chateau Course, where 10 of the top 15 teams played.
2:20 p.m.: All five guys are sitting in the clubhouse, waiting for all of the scores to be finalized. Once the scores are final, the Green Terror will know exactly what they need to do to make the cut on Wednesday.
1:50 p.m.: After back-to-back double bogies, LaVoie finished the final three holes a combined one-over par to post an unofficial score of 83.
1:40 p.m.: The Green Terror is approaching the end of round one. Meier and Kovalcheck have reached the scoring tent at 18 but central scoring is still awaiting word on their signed cards. Kovalcheck posted just the second birdie of the day for McDaniel, carding a three on the 336-yard No. 16. LaVoie and Butler have cleared the 15th hole scoring station and should be approaching the finish soon.
1:30 p.m.: Massie has finished the course, shooting 42 on the back nine. We're still waiting for the card to become official to fill in the blanks on holes 7-9 for Massie, Meier and Kovalcheck.
10:55 a.m.: An announcement was just made in the scoring area at the clubhouse that they have been some problems with the communication between a few of the scoring stations at the Woodlands course and central scoring. There will be delays in the posting of scores from the teams at the far end of the course (scoring stations at No. 9 and No. 12) until the communication problems are corrected.
10:30 a.m.: All five golfers have cleared the sixth hole. LaVoie stands at three over while Bulter and Meier are at +4. Butler put the first birdie on the board for the Green Terror, carding a three on the 398-yard No. 4. With the team a collective +16, Massie is approaching the ninth hole.
9:35 a.m.: LaVoie and Butler have cleared the third green. LaVoie currently leads all Green Terror golfers at one over, paring both No. 1 and the par-4 No. 3 around a bogie four at No. 2. Butler comes through at +3 after a par on No. 3.
9:25 a.m.: The first three groups have come through the third hole on the Woodlands Course. Massie sits four over through three while Meier and Kovalcheck have matched scorecards through the first three holes are are two over.
8:45 a.m.: All five McDaniel golfers are off the tee. Massie's first shot lands in the left side of the fairway. Steve Meier and Paul Kovalcheck go right off the tee but are in play. Zach LaVoie and Gerry Butler hit driver down the middle on the 560-yard, par 5.
8:00 a.m.: Taylor Massie leads off the tournament with the first shot on the Woodlands course, hitting driver down the left side of the fairway.
6:45 a.m.: Team at the course for pre-round practice.
