Big second half propels McDaniel to 10-7 win over Union

BALTIMORE, Md. – Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) tallied six assists to go with one goal to lead McDaniel to a 10-7 victory over Union in non-conference men’s lacrosse action on Tuesday.
Jon Miller paced the Dutchmen (4-1) with three goals and an assists.
Knotted at 4-all at the intermission, the Green Terror (4-3) tallied the first three goals of the second half to establish the largest lead for either team.
With just 53 seconds elapsed in the third quarter, Matt Buschman (Towson, Md./Calvert Hall) completed his hat trick, finishing the third of Preston’s six helpers to put McDaniel on top for good.
Fewer than two minutes later, Preston returned the favor with the Green Terror’s third man-up goal to double the advantage.
Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) made it a 7-4 game with 9:54 showing in the period, whipping home another Preston feed.

An Ian Hunter unassisted tally made it an 8-6 game at the end of three quarters before Hatton and Evan Young (Easton, Md./Broadneck) pushed the lead to 10-6 with 3:34 elapsed in the final stanza.
A Miller man-up goal with 42 seconds to play set the final margin.
After a Miller extra-man tally 1 minute, 38 seconds into the game staked the Dutchmen to a 1-0 lead, Buschman knotted the game off a Preston assist at the 11-minute mark.
Scott Garibaldi finished a solo run with 7:09 to play in the opening period to once again give Union the one-goal advantage.
Buschman and Kyle Tilley exchanged markers before two straight Warner tallies gave McDaniel a 4-3 lead.
Miller evened the game 17 seconds before the intermission off a Brendan Kinnane assist.
