No. 6 Haverford defeats McDaniel, 13-10
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Brian Fleishhacker recroded four goals to lead sixth-ranked Haverford to a 13-10 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s lacrosse action on Saturday. Mike Distler added two goals and three assists for the Fords (10-3, 5-2 CC), who clinched a playoff berth with the victory.
Matt Buschman (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) paced the Green Terror (4-9, 0-7 CC) with five goals.
Behind two goals from Max Hjelm, Haverford opened the game on a 4-0 run before Matt Daley (Wilmington, Del./AI Dupont) tallied one off a Tim Sieger (Levittown, Pa./Cornwall-Egan Catholic) feed to break up the run with 5:53 remaining in the period before Fleishhacker made it 5-1.
A natural hat trick from Buschman beginning with a man-up goal with 21 seconds remaining in the first quarter, pulled McDaniel within 5-4 before Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) evened the game at 5-all.
Andrew Kim gave the Fords a 6-5 halftime advantage before finding Matt Thorne-Fitzgerald 48 seconds into the second half. Mike Distler stretched the lead to three just 19 seconds later.
McDaniel got no closer than two the rest of the way.
The Green Terror returns to action at Hood on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
