Urquhart carries Neumann to 2-1 victory over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Jesse Urquhart scored a goal in each half to carry Neumann to a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men’s soccer action on Wednesday.
Bill Druckenmiller (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Crest) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (2-1), who outshot the Knights (2-0) by a slim 11-9 margin.
Knotted at 1-all in the second half, Urquhart collected a loose ball in front of McDaniel goalkeeper Christian Maisel (Eldersburg, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) and punched the ball by Maisel and into the upper-right corner of the net for the game-winning goal at the 71:32 mark.
In the 12th minute, Mike Barbagallo played a ball through the defense that Urquhart collected and shot of the hand of a diving Maisel and into the back of the net for a 1-0 Neumann advantage.
At the 32:32 mark, Donald Dokas (Sykesville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) centered a ball from the right side of the field that Druckenmiller one-touched past Zach Ratliff to knot the game at 1.
Maisel and Ratliff each finished with four saves.
The Green Terror finished with a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
