Big second half keys McDaniel’s 2-0 victory over Juniata
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Bill Druckenmiller (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) broke a scoreless deadlock in the 60th minute to propel McDaniel to a 2-0 victory over Juniata in non-conference men’s soccer action on Wednesday.
The Eagles (1-4) held a 15-9 advantage in shots but Christian Maisel (Eldersburg, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) made five saves to record his second consecutive shutout.
Brett Russo (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) scored the other goal for the Green Terror (5-1), who connected on two of its five second-half shots.
With just under 31 minutes left, Druckenmiller knocked home an unassisted tally for the first goal of the game.
After just 3 minutes, 14 seconds more had elapsed, Joeseph Potucek (Germantown, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) found Russo for an insurance goal.
Joe Kohler made three saves for Juniata.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
