McDaniel and Haverford play to 1-1 draw
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Christian Maisel (Eldersburg, MD/Boys Latin) recorded nine saves while Adam Care had 13 in a 1-1 draw between McDaniel and Haverford in the Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.
Joseph Potucek (Germantown, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) scored for the Green Terror (5-1-1, 0-0-1 CC) while Max Stossel tallied for the Fords (1-3-1, 0-0-1 CC), who were outshot 26-14 by the visitors on the day.
After a scoreless first half, Peter Gaitens (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) gave Potucek the pass across goal where he put the ball past the keeper just 1:43 into the second half.
At the 76:14 mark, Max Stossel scored Haverford off a rebounded shot.
Despite seven shots between the two teams in the two extra 10-minute sessions, neither team could find the back of the net.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Goucher on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
