Johns Hopkins rolls to 8-2 win over McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Evan Giles scored two goals off the bench to lead No. 8 Johns Hopkins to an 8-2 over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action on Wednesday.
Bill Druckenmiller (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Cliff) had a goal on three shots for the Green Terror (6-2-2, 0-1-2 CC), who were held to just five shots on the afternoon. The Blue Jays (10-0, 3-0 CC) fired 22 shots, including 14 in the second half.
Just 5:10 into the game, David Drake crossed a ball through the box that Scott Bukoski collected and tapped into the right side of the net.
Just over four minutes later, Bukoski doubled the advantage with a breakaway tally.
Drukenmiller finished a Donzell Tate (Silver Spring, Md./St. Johns Catholic) centering pass form the left side to trim the deficit to 2-1 in the 23rd minute.
At the 34:50 mark, Nick Gauna finished a give-and-go play in the box with Max Venker to start a six-goal flurry that put Johns Hopkins on top 8-1 with 14:03 to play.
Giles had both of his tallies during the span, converting seven minutes apart to open the second-half scoring.
Adam Sommers (Frostburg, Md./Beall) finished a short pass from Kyle Levers (Shamong, N.J./Shawnee) in the 81st minute to set the final margin.
McDaniel, who had allowed only seven goals in its first nine contests, returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
