Strong second half propels Stevenson to 2-1 victory over McDaniel
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Tyler King scored in the 77 th minute to break a 1-all deadlock and give Stevenson a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference men’s soccer action on Wednesday.
David Cross (Odenton, Md./Arundel) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (1-2), who held a 1-0 lead after 63 minutes of play.
The Mustangs (2-1) tallied twice in the second half, including on a Kyle Baker penalty kick at the 63:50 mark to take the victory.
With the game knotted at 1-all, Ryan Brost found King on the cross in front of the net at the 76:24 mark to break the deadlock.
Cross put the ball in off a rebound in the 19th minute to put McDaniel on top, 1-0.
Stevenson held a 14-9 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
Robert Hollasch (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) made three saves for the Green Terror while Adam Wiatrowski made three stops at the other end.
McDaniel returns to action at Gwynedd-Mercy on Friday. Game time is 4 p.m.
