Franklin & Marshall downs McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Rob Hassler scored a goal to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 2-0 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action on Saturday.
The Diplomats (6-4-2, 2-1-2 CC) held a slim 10-9 edge in shots while the Green Terror (4-7-1, 1-3-1 CC) finished with a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Michael Radcliffe (Kingsville, Md./Perry Hall) made six saves for McDaniel while Zach Zamek had four stops at the other end.
Off a Hassler shot-and-save on the right side of the box, a Green Terror defender cleared the ball into the net to stake Franklin & Marshall to a 1-0 lead at the 34:25 mark.
In the 78th minute, Rodrigo Nogales played a short ball up from the end line up the box, where Hassler collected it and found the lower-right corner of the net to double the lead.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
