McDaniel opens outdoor season at Goucher
TOWSON, Md. – Jason Maier (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) recorded a pair of second-place finishes to lead the McDaniel men’s outdoor track and field team to a fourth-place finish at the Goucher Invitational on Saturday. The men finished with 73 points. Ursinus won the team title with 161.5 points. On the women’s side, the Green Terror posted a sixth-place showing with 32 points. The Bears completed the team sweep, recording 185 points.
Maier threw a distance of 14.00 meters in the shot put and 37.97 meters in the discus to finish second in both events. He also added a pair of top six showings, finishing fourth (45.03 meters) in the javelin and sixth (27.49) in the hammer.
Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) added a pair of top three finishes, crossing second in the 800 (2:02.71) and third in the 1,500 (4:15.80).
Dan White (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) added McDaniel’s lone win on the men’s side, winning the 5,000 with a time of 16:44.20.
Kristin Duling (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) added a single win on the women’s side, taking first in the 400 with a time of 1:05.25. She was also fourth in the 200 (28.38) while Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) crossed fourth in the 3,000 (12:08.53)
McDaniel opens the outdoor season at the Bucknell Distance Classic on Apr. 11.
