McDaniel women place fourth, men fifth at Mason-Dixon Invitational
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Kristin Duling (Hampstead, Md./North Caroll) won the 400 meters to lead McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at the 2008 Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg in women’s outdoor track and field action on Saturday. The Green Terror women finished tied with Catholic with 55 points. The host Bullets ran away with the meet, scoring 351 points to second-place Goucher’s 85. On the men’s side, Gettysburg also took the team title with 314.5 points – outdistancing Thaddeus Stevens by 203.5 points – while McDaniel was fifth with 40 points.
Duling won by 0.23 seconds, completing the lap in a time of 1:02.80.
Rachel McCallum (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) added a second-place showing the 100, completing the finals in a time of 12.94 seconds. She ran a time of 12.82 in the preliminaries. McCallum was also sixth in the long jump (4.69 meters).
Erin Balsamo (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) added thre top eight finishes with a fifth in the high jump (1.27 meters) and eighth in the shot put (8.00) and javelin (18.31).
Emily Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) was fourth in the 400 (1:10.37) while Stefanie McCole (Hanover, Pa./South Western) was fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:21.03).
On the men’s side, Scott Pusateri (Accident, Md./Northern Garrett) led the way with a second-place finish in the 1,500 (4:17.17) while Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was right behind him in fourth place (4:17.80).
Crutchley was also fourth in the 800 (2:04.02) while Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) was crossed fifth (2:04.36).
McDaniel returns to action at the Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday.
