Box Scores - Game One | Game Two

YORK, Pa. – Andrea Tombesi recorded four hits, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead York (Pa.) to a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel in non-conference softball action on Sunday.
The Spartans (17-5) staved off a late rally by the Green Terror (5-13) in game one for a 4-3 victory before completing the sweep with a 12-3 five-inning win in the nightcap, stretching McDaniel’s losing streak to seven straight games – the longest such stretch since dropping eight straight to open the 1989 season.
Emily Trainor (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) paced the Green Terror with three hits, three RBIs and a run scored.
In the opener, York used a three-run fifth to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage.
Amanda Atieh reached on a one-out infield single before scoring to knot the game on a Heather Bormann single and Sam Lawrence infield hit.
After a bobbled throw allowed Bormann to score, Kristen Gray singled to left to drive in Lawrence and stretch the lead to 4-2.
With two outs in the seventh, Megan Elfert (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) reached on catcher’s interference.
A Diana Rosemier (Damascus, Md./Damascus) triple drew McDaniel within one with the tying run 60 feet away but Megan Mickles got a groundout to finish off the complete game and notch her eighth win of the season.
A Bormann double and back-to-back sacrifices in the bottom of the first staked the Spartans to a 1-0 lead before a Trainor two-run double in the third gave the Green Terror a 2-1 advantage.
Knotted at 1-all in game two, an Afton Brugger single through the right side plated Tombesi from second to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
A Tombesi two-run home run in the third pushed the lead to 4-1 before the Spartans exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning.
After a Wood leadoff single, the Green Terror got a groundout before a Bormann single drove in Wood. Lawrence followed with a double to chase Kate Phelan (Devon, Pa./Conestoga).
Kelly Toms (Hagerstown, Md./Hagerstown) walked the first batter she faced before five of the next six batters reached with a hit to go with a McDaniel error.
Michelle Barwick and Wood had the big hits of the stretch with a two-run double and two-run triple, respectively.
Run-producing singles from Lauren Wildasin (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Trainor in the top of the fifth set the final margin.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Messiah on Wednesday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
