Box Scores - Game One | Game Two

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Karyn Curley (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) notched one of McDaniel’s four hits on the day but it came as part of a sixth-inning game-two rally to help her team forge a split with Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) softball action on Saturday.
The Garnet (15-9, 4-2 CC), behind a complete-game one-hitter from Kathryn Riley, notched a 1-0 victory in the opener before the Green Terror (7-17, 2-6 CC) used a pair of sixth-inning runs to overcome an early 1-0 deficit and take game two.
Managing just four base runners after Swarthmore used a Lauren Walker single and Melissa Emmerson RBI single with the bases loaded to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Diana Rosemier (Damascus, Md./Damascus) was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the sixth.
After Rosemier stole second. a muffed throw on Emily Trainor’s (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) sacrifice attempt allowed the leadoff hitter to knot the game at 1-all.
After a groundout moved Trainor to third, Curley singled up the middle to drive in the go-ahead run.
Christina Morley (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam with a groundout and a popout that turned into a force out a second to get her first save of the season.
Kate Phelan (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) worked two innings of relief to pick up her first win of the season.
In the opener, Morley and Riley battled through a scoreless first four innings before Krista Scheirer led off the fifth inning with a double.
A sacrifice moved her to third before scoring on a wild pitch.
Morley scatted seven hits in the loss while Riley, who struck out nine, allowed just one hit – a Rosemier spinner that heading foul in the sixth inning.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Ursinus on Sunday. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
