Gettysburg takes two against McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Matt Rush completed his three-win day as part of the 200 freestyle relay, breaking a 39-all tie and giving Gettysburg a 46-39 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s swimming action on Wednesday.
The Bullet women (2-0, 2-0 CC) completed the sweep over the Green Terror (0-2, 0-2 CC), winning the first seven events en route to a 53-28 win.
With two entries in the 100-yard breaststroke, the McDaniel men (0-2, 0-2 CC) pulled even in the meet but swimming uncontested in the 200 freestyle relay gave the Gettysburg men (2-0, 2-0 CC) the meet victory.
Chris Bosco (Vienna, Va./James Madison) completed his two-win day, touching first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.33.
Rush teamed with Peter Levin, Adam Taft and Stephen Stopenski to close out the meet with a time of 1:32.44 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Chris Reed (Bowie, Md./Bowie) and Stephen Gomez (Charlottesville, Va./Albermarle), both of whom won twice on the day, teamed with Bosco and Wes Henry (Greencastle, Pa./Perkiomen) to open the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.51.
Rush won his first event of the day, touching first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.75. He also won the 100 freestyle (49.59).
Gomez’s second victory of the meet came in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.75 while Reed got his second victory in the 100 backstroke (59.42).
Maggie Mulderrig and Sarah Andryauskas each had two-win days for the Bullet women.
Mulderrig and Andryauskas teamed with Valerie Atwood and Alison Pettine to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:55.17.
Mulderrig added a victory in the 50 freestyle (25.43) while Andryauskas touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.17).
McDaniel returns to action at home against Ursinus on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
