WESTMINSTER, Md. – Laura Bassford won three eventsto lead Franklin & Marshall to an 80-32 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s swimming action on Friday.
The Diplomats (5-5, 3-2 CC) won the first 11 events of the night to build an 80-17 lead over the Green Terror (1-7, 1-4 CC) en route to the victory.
The Franklin & Marshall men (5-4, 4-0 CC) completed the sweep with a 64-48 win over McDaniel (1-7, 1-4 CC) to remain one of three teams unbeaten in conference dual action.
Tom Grabiak led the Diplomat men with a two-win day, touching first in the 100 butterfly (54.50) and 100 backstroke (57.67). Conor Finnegan also won twice, adding an individual win in the 50 backstroke with a time of 26.75.
Finnegan also teamed with Dan Kritzer, Peter Fisher and J.T. Cavey to open the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, combining to swim a time of 1:42.98.
Chris Reed (Bowie, Md./Bowie) was a triple-winner for McDaniel while Morgan DeHart (Salisbury, Md./Wicomico) won twice.
The duo teamed with Chris Bosco (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and Scott Cammarata (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:38.45.
Reed was also a winner in the 100 IM (56.79) and 50 breaststroke (27.96) while DeHart touched first in the 500 free (5:17.96).
On the women’s side, Bassford touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.41) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.15) while also swimming as part of the 200 medley relay, which combined to win in a time of 1:56.09.
Cydney Eldh, Brittany McCabe and Jennie Payne were all double winner for the Diplomats.
The McDaniel women return to action at Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Meet time is 1 p.m.
