McDaniel sweeps Trinity
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Jenna Filipone (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) recorded six kills and eight digs to lead McDaniel to a 3-0 win over Trinity (D.C.) in non-conference volleyball action on Thursday.
The Green Terror (5-4) used large runs in all three games to put each out of reach. In game one, the Green Terror put together unanswered rallies of 12 points and eight points to turn a 6-3 advantage into a 26-4 lead en route to a 30-7 win.
Game two saw Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Cliff) serve 20 straight points, turning a slender 5-3 edge into a 24-4 advantage en route to a 30-6 victory. All four of her service aces came during the run.
In game three, Emily Creighton (Gambrills, Md./South River) put up eight straight tallies to turn a 7-5 deficit into a 12-7 lead before Kristen Nuckles (Sussex, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) served the final eight times in the 30-11 victory. Three of Nuckles’ four aces came during the match-clinching stretch.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) finished the match with a team-high eight kills while Virginia Dale (Middletown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) had five. As a team, McDaniel recorded just 37 kills.
Nuckles tallied 20 assists while Kristie Fourcade (Ijamsville, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) had 12.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m.
