Haverford sweeps McDaniel to secure top seed in CC playoffs
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Three different Haverford players recorded double-doubles led by Rachel Salvo’s 18-kill, 18-dig performance in a 3-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Saturday.
The win for the 15th-ranked Fords (26-2, 9-1 CC) secures the top spot for the upcoming CC playoffs, which will be held at Haverford on Saturday and Sunday. The Green Terror (15-8, 8-2 CC) will meet Johns Hopkins in the 2-3 match. Times will be announced on Monday.
Haverford took the match by game scores of 30-28, 30-21 and 30-17.
Rebecca Salvo added 14 kills and a team-high 20 digs for the Fords while Laura Nuyen had 12 kills and 12 digs. Kelsey Cantwell contributed 18 digs to the defense.
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) led McDaniel with 12 kills while Lanni Reisinger (Lemoyne, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added six. Reisinger and Deanne Lehr (New Oxford, Pa./Bermudian Springs) tallied one service ace apiece.
Alice Hardwick (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) steadied the defense with a match-high 22 digs while Kristen Nuckles (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk) added 10.
